The New Wasteland

Lieberman the Politician, six months elected,  
Forgot the cry of the grieving, and the deep electoral swell
And the voting and criticism.
       An encrusted shard of ego
Picked his bones in whispers.  As he rose and fell
He passes the stages of his age and youth
Entering the whirlpool.

O you who stroke the base and look electorateward,
