"Dolphins at a Japanese marine park are on a diet after developing potbellies and struggling in their performances. Kinosaki Marine World said its 19 dolphins have been on a diet since August, when they started failing to hit jumping targets."

I wonder if it occurred to these people that Dolphins aren't supposed to live this kind of life and if they were in the wild perhaps things would be different.
Definitely - in the wild, they migrate and they have to chase their dinners down. I suspect, however, the dolphins themselves prefer the feeding arrangements at the park.
However, given the problems keepers of primates and some of the smarter birds have, I truly have to wonder how much effort is put into keeping them intellectually stimulated. They're as smart as chimpanzees (supposedly) - if they were trapped without stimulation, it would be goddamned torture.
